Design Considerations for Compressors with Magnetic Bearings
Development of magnetic bearings and dry gas seals has altered the standard design criteria used on centrifugal compressors with conventional oil-film seals and bearings. The authors' company started testing their first oil free compressor i n 1979. Since that time much experience has been gained through fieldoperation as shown in Table 1.
