30 kW Bearingless Canned Motor Pump on the Test Bed
In conventional industrial pumps the rotor is supported for example with slide bearings which can cause trouble. In a first part of this paper, based on earlier publications [1], [2] and [3] a magnetic bearing configuration suitable for a canned pump is presented, which has to fulfill the standards applicable for industry. Extensive tests with water on the test facility have shown the feasibility of the proposed 30 kW bearingless canned pump. The most important components of the system and the test results will be presented and discussed.
